The Saskatchewan Research Council has successfully put its SLOWPOKE research reactor into a non-operational safe state. The reactor has been defueled and the fuel has been transported to the United States. Decommissioning the reactor began in 2017. It will be fully decommissioned over the next two years. The nuclear reactor has been in operation at SRC since 1981. Since then, it has seen more than 20 thousand hours of operation and conducted more than 240 thousand analytical tests.
