The NDP believes it’s the province’s responsibility to make sure that everyone gets their COVID vaccine.
Leader Ryan Meili says the provincial government has been reacting to COVID instead of planning ahead.
He believes that a mandate for vaccine shots should be in place.
Health Minister Paul Merriman says he will not infringe on a personal rights by calling for vaccines to be made mandatory.
Many feel the government should be calling for a mandatory vaccination policy for large events like Rider games. Merriman says it is up to the football team to make that decision.
The province’s health minister says the government is also not considering re-introducing a mask policy.
Meili says the Health Minister is letting down residents by not acknowledging that the province is in the middle of the fourth wave. He says Merriman is not fit for the job.
In fact, Merriman said earlier in the day that we are seeing all the signs that we are entering the fourth waves.
