Saskatchewan has recorded its largest single-day number of COVID-19 cases since May 8.
Each of the provincial zones had at least five new cases from the total of 258 new cases shown Friday on the provincial government dashboard. Saskatoon topped the list with 61 new cases. Coupled with 105 recoveries and Saskatchewan’s active case count is at 1,753, the highest that number has been since May 22. Two more novel coronavirus-related deaths were included in Friday’s update, bringing the provincial death toll to 596. On the positive side, the hospitalization numbers due to COVID-19 dipped back below 100 to 97 with 22 infections receiving treatment in an I-C-U. As for the vaccination roll-out, another 1,499 Saskatchewan residents being fully immunized against the virus on Thursday from a total of 2,455 shots administered.

- The new cases are located in the Far North West (9), Far North Central (7), Far North East (29), North West (23), North Central (36), North East (18), Saskatoon (61), Central West (10), Central East (9), Regina (13), South West (5), South Central (5) and South East (12) zones and 21 new cases have pending residence information
- Six (6) cases with pending location were assigned to the North West (from Aug 25 (1), North Central (from Aug 25 (3)), Central West (from Aug 25 (1)), and Central East (from Aug 20 (1)) zones
- 53,262 cases are confirmed
- 12,626 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 12,413 cases are from the Regina area
- 11,853 cases are from the North area (5,019 North West, 4,998 North Central, 1,836 North East)
- 6,406 cases are from the Far North area (3,157 Far North West, 473 Far North Central, 2,776 Far North East)
- 6,279 cases are from the South area (1,257 South West, 2,026 South Central, 2,996 South East)
- 3,481 cases are from the Central area (913 Central West, 2,568 Central East)
- 204 cases have pending residence information
- 1,753 cases are considered active and 50,913 cases are considered recovered
- About two-fifths (40.3%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category
- About one in eight (12.4%) new cases was fully vaccinated
- As of August 27th, a total of 97 individuals are hospitalized, including 75 inpatient hospitalizations and 22 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 97 patients, 71 (73.2%) were not fully vaccinated.
- Two (2) new deaths reported today. 596 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
- As of August 25, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 852,916 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,056,449 tests per million population.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 177 (14.7 new cases per 100,000)
