There may be changes afoot with the federal election, but a USask Political Studies professor says they may not be for the reasons you might expect.
Ken Coates says says Nova Scotia’s provincial election saw a Conservative win for the first time in ten years, and it was considered a post-pandemic election.
However since then, we are no longer post-pandemic.
We are in the fourth wave of COVID-19 with more infectious variants of concern.
Coates says calling the election has made some people angry because of safety concerns and because of the expense for what is believed to be no concrete reason.
He suggests Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has not been able to properly explain why the election is being held, and it may backfire on him.
Coates suspects the Liberals are regretting the decision, because it has been reported a note went out to his candidates saying if you have any big ideas for the election, let them know.
He expects it will be challenging for the Liberals to come up with something now, because they have already spent hundreds of billions of dollars, with not much left.
We are in a Federal Election but the Question is, Why?
