Tuesday Morning, Métis Nation–Saskatchewan President Glen McCallum and Cumberland House Cree Nation Chief Rene Chaboyer will place signs at the E. B. Campbell Dam entrance. They are to welcome people to Treaty 5 territory and distinguish the heartland of the Métis. The gathering also formalizes a nation-to-nation working relationship between the two groups. E.B. Campbell Hydroelectric Station is about 340 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
Treaty 5 covers millions of acres stretching from northeastern Saskatchewan
through much of central and northern Manitoba and into the western part of
Ontario. In Saskatchewan, Treaty 5 encompasses Cumberland House, Shoal Lake First Nation, and Red Earth First Nation.
