Six crown corporations and one crown agency are all facing the possibility of a strike from close to five thousand Unifor members in Saskatchewan. The two sides were at the table Thursday and continue Fri. Sept. 27.
If there is no agreement for the seven contracts, Unifor has said they will come together to make a determination of when each local will give 48 hour notice of job action. National president, Jerry Dias says he has no problem with MLAs giving themselves a 2.3 per cent increase, but he considers it hypocritical when the Unifor offer is for no increase.
If a collective agreement cannot be reached, Unifor members at SaskTel could take job action as of 12:01 a.m. Monday. Finance Minister Donna Harpauer says new offers have been presented, but in the event there is job action, essential services agreements and business continuity plans are in place to ensure services continue.
