Effective Wednesday, non-medical face masks are required for those people using City of Saskatoon indoor leisure facilities.
Those include Leisure centres, indoor arenas, golf course buildings and Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo buildings. The updated health and safety measures were done to protect patrons and employees and address the increasing spread of COVID-19 in Saskatoon. Masks must be worn while participating in physical activities, with the exception of aquatic activities. A limited supply of disposable masks will be available for the first two weeks for those who don’t have one. In addition, with Red Cross swim lessons starting soon in the fall, water safety instructors will deliver lessons from the pool deck, except for demonstrations, pre-school programs and Swim Kids 1-4 require a parent or guardian in the water to assist young swimmers and lesson capacities may be reduced for levels which require a parent or guardian to be in the water. Lessons at the Shaw Centre, which were to begin this Thursday, September 2, will be rescheduled to start Thursday, September 9. That will reduce the number of lessons from 10 to 8 sessions.
