Saskatoon Police say a 53 year old woman is recovering in hospital after a crash on Highway 41 about a kilometre north of Highway 5. The accident call came in at 4:13 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and occurred not far from a fatal collision Tuesday at the junction of Highways 5 and 41.
Police say the driver of a car crossed the centre line into the path of a semi loaded with steel. The driver of the semi managed to avoid a head-on collision but the car sideswiped the trailer of the semi and suffered serious damage. Alcohol or drug impairment was not a factor in the accident. Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Collision Analyst Unit have cleared the collision on Highway 41 between Llewellyn Road and Blackley Road.
The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to the accident and used hydraulic cutting tools to extract a person. The vehicle had to be cut open to remove the patient, who was then transferred to the ambulance on scene. You can see a picture of the accident with this story on CJWWradio.com.
