The 418 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Saskatchewan Friday on the provincial government dashboard is the most in a single day since November 21 of last year when 439 new cases were reported. Eighty-two per cent of the those who tested positive were not vaccinated, 5 per cent were partially vaccinated and 13 per cent had both shots.
The 418 new cases came from 3,293 tests, a 12.7 per cent positive test rate, the highest that number has been for a single day since January 11th when the rate was 15.8 per cent. Add in 152 recoveries and the number of active cases of the novel coronavirus in Saskatchewan is up to 2,755, the most since 3,272 cases were active in the province back on January 25th. Despite those numbers, there was only one more person in hospital Friday than there was Thursday, now at 135 with 23 infections being treated in an I-C-U. The latest update included two new COVID-19-related deaths. As for vaccinations, Saskatchewan is 887 second shots away from 700,000 residents being fully vaccinated against the virus after 1,542 second shots were administered Thursday out of 2,716 total doses.

- Two (2) new deaths reported today. 610 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,034,171 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of September 1, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 870,431 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,070,726 tests performed per million.
