The U of Saskatchewan Huskies football team continues practices in advance of the 2021 Canada West Conference season this morning at 8 o’clock at Griffiths Stadium. The campaign starts Saturday, September 25th with three games, including the Dogs visiting the Calgary Dinos. The Huskies’ home opener will be Saturday, October 16th against the Alberta Golden Bears. Kick-off time is 2 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.

The 2021 Rawlings Grand Slam Softball Championship continues today and runs through tomorrow at Bob Van Impe Stadium, Joe Gallagher Field and Glenn Reeve #3 diamond. There are two divisions with 10 teams taking part in the Men’s division and nine teams in the Under-23 Men’s division. The host Saskatoon Angels are in the Men’s Division with two teams each from B-C, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. In the Under-23 Men’s division, the Saskatoon Diamondbacks and Delisle Pride are taking part along with seven other teams from across the country, including one from Newfoundland. First games get started at 9 a.m. today.

The top amateur wrestlers from across Canada are in Saskatoon today for the 2021 Under-23 and Senior World Team Trials. Over 50 athletes, plus 100 coaches and support staff will compete to determine Canada’s teams for the Under-23 World Championships, to be held November 1st through 7th in Belgrade, Serbia, as well as for the Senior World Championships, to be held October 2nd through 10th in Oslo, Norway. Today’s event is being held at the Saskatoon Inn, however spectators are not allowed due to COVID-19 protocols.
