Sunday evening just before ten, Big River RCMP responded to a report of a gunshot heard in the Miami Beach area of Big River First Nation. From the investigation, RCMP say a vehicle was parked at the beach when an altercation began among a number of individuals both inside and outside the vehicle. A firearm was then shot through the window hitting a male inside. He was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Twenty-one year old Tristan Whitefish, from Big River First Nation is facing numerous firearms charges and one count each of uttering threats and aggravated assault. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. There is no picture at this time. He is described as 5’6″ and 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Police advise that if you see Whitefish you shouldn’t approach him, and instead call the police.
