Advance polls are open across the country from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (local time) today (Fri) and every day through Monday for the 44th federal election. Elections Canada advises that you can only vote at your assigned polling place, and that information is on the back of your voter information card sent in the mail.

In light of COVID-19, health and safety measures will be in place including hand sanitizing, masking and physical distancing. You can also vote at any Elections Canada office or by mailing using the special ballot process.

When you vote, you will have to prove your identity and address. You can use your driver’s licence or any government card which includes your name and address, or you can show two pieces of identification with your name and one has to include your address. The third option if you don’t have any identification is to declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you.

Elections Canada adds that if you are self-isolating or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, if you have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case. or you don’t want to wear a mask where one is required should apply to vote by mail. The deadline to apply to vote by mail is Tuesday, and completed ballots must arrive at Elections Canada by the election day deadline.
