Multiple people have been arrested following a drug investigation in the city’s Pacific Heights neighbourhood.
On Thursday, members of the Drug Unit observed activity consistent with drug dealing at a home in the 400 block of Cockburn Crescent.
Officers conducted a traffic stop after seeing a suspected drug transaction between an occupant of the home and the driver of a black Ford Taurus. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped off striking the officer’s hand.
Another officer spotted the vehicle a short time later and a traffic stop was successfully done on 11th Street by Highway 11. The 24 year-old driver was taken into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of bear spray, a knife and 0.5 grams of crack cocaine. The 24 year-old faces multiple charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The officer did not sustain any serious injuries.
A warrant was then obtained for the home on the 400 block of Cockburn. Five males ages 23, 24, 25, 27 and 32 and one female aged 24 were arrested.
In total, 66.7 grams of crack cocaine, 59.7 grams of cocaine and $5765 dollars worth of currency were seized from the home.
All six arrested are facing charges that include Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of the Proceeds of Crime. All were expected to appear in court Friday.
