Saskatoon Light and Power customers are getting threatening calls from scammers.

They are demanding money claiming the accounts have been overdue for a number of months and say service will be cut off if payments aren’t made immediately.

City officials warn the calls seem legitimate as the Saskatoon Light and Power phone number shows on call display as it seems the fraudsters have found a way to make that happen.

The city never makes collection calls over the phone and never asks for credit card or bank information by phone text or email.
