Ninety-seven of 439 new cases of COVID-19 were found in children aged 11-and-under, the most of any of the nine demographic groups and the only one not eligible to be vaccinated.
The latest dashboard reading from the Government of Saskatchewan website showed 391 recoveries and one novel coronavirus-related death, leaving 4,064 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. Of the active cases, 218 people are in hospital, including 48 infections being treated in an I-C-U. Compared with Wednesday, the number of new cases was down by 36, the number of children aged 11-and-under contracting the virus was down by seven and the number of hospitalized patients was down by six. However, there are eight more I-C-U patients in Thursday’s update than there were Wednesday. In addition, 347 of the 439 new cases in the last report were individuals who are unvaccinated.

- One (1) SK resident tested out-of-province was added to the case counts in Regina (from September 13 (1)).

- One-third (33.3%) of new cases are in the 19 years and under age category.
- More than one in seven (16.4%) new cases were fully vaccinated.
- As of September 16th, a total of 218 individuals are hospitalized; including 170 inpatient hospitalizations and 48 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 218 patients, 160 (73.4%) were not fully vaccinated.
- One (1) new death reported today. 630 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.0%.
- 1,078,107 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of September 14th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 907,317 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,098,599 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 438 (36.4 new cases per 100,000).
