Forty-one years ago, Terry Fox dipped his leg in the Atlantic Ocean in St. John’s, Nfld. and his Marathon of Hope began, to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
Terry Fox’s legacy lives on despite his journey ending in Thunder Bay. He passed away shortly after at age 22 from his second cancer diagnosis.
Every September, Canadians walk or run in Terry’s memory and continue to raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation.
In Saskatoon the Terry Fox Run was virtual but the official day is today. The Terry Fox School Runs are slated for September 29th.
To date, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised about $850 million for cancer research.
