The Saskatoon Police Service is warning the public about a phone scam that has resurfaced as of late. Police say they’ve received complaints that a person posing as a police officer or lawyer is making calls stating that a family member of the individual who answers is in trouble with the police and is in need of financial assistance whether it be for bail or paying a ticket. The Saskatoon Police Service does not contact people in this manner. Saskatoon Police asks those who receive a call like this to use extreme caution . Ask important questions to try and determine the identity of the caller. If you suspect fraud, contact the SPS or Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
