While Saskatchewan’s COVID-19-related death number continues to rise, along with the almost-daily increase of hospitalizations, including I-C-U patients, due to the novel coronavirus, the province’s active case count went down for a second straight day.
According to Monday’s dashboard update on the Government of Saskatchewan website, there were 445 new cases of COVID-19 with 523 recoveries, leaving 4,635 active cases, 83 fewer than in Sunday’s report.
However, there were five new deaths because of the virus, plus four more positive COVID-19 cases being hospitalized and six more infections being treated in an I-C-U. In total, 716 provincial residents have died from the novel coronavirus. There are now 325 individuals in hospital, including 75 in an I-C-U.
Seventy-six-point-eight per cent of the hospitalized patients are not fully vaccinated.

- Nearly one-third (32.6%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39
- More than one in four (25.6%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated
- As of October 4th, a total of 325 individuals are hospitalized, including 250 inpatient hospitalizations and 75 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 325 patients eligible for vaccination, 250 (76.8%) were not fully vaccinated.
- Five (5) new deaths reported today. 716 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.0%.
- 1,147,351 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of September 30, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 961,276 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,143,428 tests performed per million.
