The good news some parts of the province is the wind should start shifting today and push the plume of smoke from north of Hudson Bay, that is blanketing central Saskatchewan, northwards overnight into Wednesday.
The smoke is stretching all the way intro central Alberta as well.
Smoke in the air can cause increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. If the smoke in the air is causing problems you are advised to stay inside a place that’s cool and ventilated. Using an air conditioner that cools and filters air may help.
If your home isn’t air-conditioned, consider going to a public place (library, shopping mall, recreation centre) that is air-conditioned.
There are 13 wildfires burning in Saskatchewan and seven of those this morning are not contained.
There have been 605 wildfires to date in Saskatchewan which is more than twice the average in a year.
There are fire crews actively fighting the fire with assistance from helicopters, and an air tanker. A fire ban is in place for the east central part of Saskatchewan.
