If you want to get your driver’s licence, you’ll need to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a recent negative test. SGI spokesperson, Tyler McMurchy, says the move is intended to improve safety for customers and for staff, explaining that those taking the test and the driver examiners are in close quarters in an enclosed air space when in the vehicle, so this will help to reduce the risks of transmission. Both will also be wearing masks.
McMurchy adds that up to this point during the pandemic, people taking their tests had an examiner follow in a vehicle behind the applicant, but that lead to a backlog. This new requirement will begin October 25th. (CJGX)
