The provincial N-D-P, along with anti-poverty advocates, spoke Tuesday in Regina, asking for changes to the S-I-S program and suspension of the program.
With the cost of rent and homelessness on the rise in the province, Social Services Critic Meara Conway says there should be a return to direct payments to landlords and a housing strategy for those who will looking for shelter during the winter months. Conway wrote a letter to Social Services Minister Lorri Carr asking along with payment increase, a return to the direct payment model for housing and a roundtable featuring landlords, social workers and government employees to work together on a new housing strategy.
