RCMP have now laid second degree murder charges against two 16 year old youths after a suspicious death in Grandmother’s Bay.
The investigation began last Friday when an occupant of the community was unaccounted for. Officers found a man deceased inside a home who has been identified as 55 -year-old George Roberts of Grandmother’s Bay.
Both teens were in court Thursday and in addition to being charged with second degree murder they also each face one count of robbery and one count, break and enter and commit indictable offence.
The investigation determined that Roberts’ death was suspicious in nature. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit South led the subsequent investigation with the assistance of the Stanley Mission RCMP, La Ronge RCMP, Prince Albert and Tisdale Forensic Identification Services, Saskatoon and Prince Albert Provincial General Investigation Sections, Major Crime Unit North and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
