A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Highway 16 west around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. The accident happened where Highway 16 and Highway 4 merge, before the bridge that crosses the North Saskatchewan River.
The Pedestrian was treated by EMS, rushed to Battlefords Union Hospital and then airlifted by STARS to RUH in Saskatoon for further treatment of injuries which are described as severe. The 15 year old boy was alone at the time he was hit but RCMP say his family has been contacted and kept updated on his condition.
Battleford RCMP say their investigation indicates the driver of the vehicle was sober, stopped to help and called 9-1-1. Traffic is once again flowing normally in the area and the accident is still under investigation.
