Saskatoon Police say a 31 year old man is facing eight charges in connection to last Friday’s shooting which occurred in the 1000 block of Northumberland Avenue.

Around 2:30 p..m. that afternoon police were called to a report of shots being fired in Saskatoon’s Massey Place neighbourhood where officers say they saw evidence of a firearm being discharged.

Officers tracked down a suspect at Avenue Y and 33rd Street. No one was hurt and police are looking for a second male wanted in connection to the incident.

The suspect who has been arrested is charged with assault with a weapon (firearm), use of a weapon (firearm) while committing an indictable offence, possession of a loaded, restricted firearm and possession of a firearm while prohibited from doing so.

The shooting took place in front of Vincent Massey School which was placed in lockdown as a precaution. The incident is not believed to be connected to the school.
