There was another new practice roster face on the Mosaic Stadium turf Wednesday with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Green and White announced the addition of import defensive lineman Cece Jefferson. A U of Florida grad, who was at the N-F-L training camp of the Seattle Seahawks, Jefferson was on the South-East Conference Coaches All-Freshman team and was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Ted Hendricks Award Watch Lists as a senior with the Gators. SIGNED TO PRACTICE ROSTER:
- American defensive lineman Cece Jefferson
Jefferson (6’1 – 266 lbs) comes to the Roughriders after trying out for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. The former Florida Gator made an impression early on in Gainesville, starting four of 14 games and landing on the SEC Coaches All-Freshman team. He continued to shine throughout his sophomore and junior seasons, starting eight of eleven games as a junior and leading the team with 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. As a senior, the Florida native recorded 18 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, one sack, two pass breakups and one fumble recovered and was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Ted Hendricks Award Watch Lists. Jefferson finished his collegiate career with 124 tackles, 34.5 tackles-for-loss, 10.5 sacks, four pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovered in 48 games played.
