A dangerous driving traffic stop Monday night in Regina led to the arrest of an out-of-province male on several other charges.
At about 9:50 p.m. on October 18, two patrol members spotted a Chevy Impala traveling at between 90 and 100 kilometres per hour north on Broad Street, passing vehicles in the narrow underpass just north of Saskatchewan Drive. The officers were able to get the vehicle to stop at Broad Street and 7th Avenue, but the driver became extremely uncooperative when told he was under arrest for dangerous driving. As the officers tried to arrest the driver outside the vehicle, he allegedly assaulted both. With the driver apprehended, a search of the vehicle found ammunition, spent casings, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription drugs, an expandable baton and thousands of dollars in Canadian currency. Twenty-four-year-old Tyler James Thorvaldson of Carman, Manitoba, appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Tuesday to answer to nine total charges.
