Saskatoon Police say a Canine Officer spotted a pick-up around 10:50 p.m. Monday night at Idylwyld Drive North and Circle Drive which matched the description of a truck reported stolen.

The officer tried to pull the truck over to no avail and it continued onto Airport Drive. The Air Support Unit monitored from the air.

Police say the truck was driving in a dangerous manner and after hitting a stud belt it became stuck in a ditch in the 3800 block of Idylwyld Drive North, about a kilometre south of Marquis Drive.

The suspect then tried to flee on foot and was apprehended by the Canine Unit.

Police say they seized a shotgun and rifle, 14.78 grams of methamphetamine, a scale and numerous household items that were allegedly stolen.

A 27 year old man is facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Driving While Prohibited and six firearms offenses.

He was also treated at the scene for a dog bite.
