SaskTel says labour negotiations involving Unifor and SaskTel as well as its subsidiaries, Directwest and Securtek, are at an impasse.
SaskTel says Unifor has communicated to its members that effective Friday they will begin strike action.
In the case of SecurTek, the management team and out of scope employees will maintain monitoring services and SecurTek’s Dealers will continue to provide service to customers.
Directwest will also do its best to serve customers but suggests there may be delays in response times.
SaskTel stores will be closed during the labour disruption. When the strike commences SaskTel will not be activating new home services or transferring services when moving. New business services, escept wireless, cannot be activated as well during the strike. SaskTel says its primary focus is maintaining the networks and services for customers.
There have been contract negotiations since the beginning of the year and a conciliator was appointed involving Sasktel, Directwest and SecurTek. With no tentative agreement in place, bargaining involving all three entities came to a halt September 26th.
SaskTel, SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskWater, The Water Security Agency and SecurTek and DirectWest started work-to-rule at 12:01 a.m. Monday morning.
