Help the helpers by reducing community transmission of COVID-19.
That’s the request of the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, which is encouraging the public and its members to meet and exceed the public health orders during this difficult fourth wave of COVID-19.
A news release from the SCoP says Paramedics and Emergency Medical Responders are reporting record numbers of calls and increased offload delays which affects their ability to respond to other calls, even exceeding capacity at times.
It heightens the emotional and moral fatigue experienced by members of the SCoP.
The news release states that to protect the public, the College of Paramedics joins with other medical colleagues to recommend everyone follow the province’s public health orders, get fully vaccinated, and immediately reduce your number of contacts over the next four weeks, to reduce transmission, which will be especially effective for those who are not yet fully immunized.
