Red Deer RCMP, after executing search warrants at three properties in Red Deer, Lacombe County and Morningside, Alberta, seized contraband cigarettes and cannabis products, cash and a vehicle.
RCMP say their two month long investigation revealed a wholesale supplier of contraband tobacco products was operating out of Red Deer distributing to numerous locations in Alberta.
RCMP seized $1.35 million in illegal cigarettes, $14,000 in cash, a stolen car and contraband cannabis products.
This all took place at the end of August and on Thursday 43-year-old Chrys Tremblay of Red Deer is scheduled to be in court charged with selling unstamped (contraband) tobacco under the Criminal Code, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, selling unstamped tobacco products under the Excise Act, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis products.
