While daily new cases of COVID-19 and positive test percentage for the virus continue to trend downward in Saskatchewan, that trend continues to not extend towards hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the province.
The latest dashboard reading from the Government of Saskatchewan website showed 226 positive cases of the novel coronavirus being treated in hospital, including 51 infections in an I-C-U. There are 25 Saskatchewan I-C-U patients in Ontario hospitals with one having returned to the province yesterday. Otherwise, Wednesday’s update showed 173 new cases from 2,408 tests for a 7.2 per cent positive rate. In addition, there were 234 recoveries and three COVID-19-related deaths, leaving 1,765 active cases. Plus, 1,662 of 2,328 doses of vaccine on Tuesday made the recipient fully vaccinated, boosting the Saskatchewan total over 800-thousand at 800,031.
