Second verse, same as the first…good for the Prince Albert Raiders, not so much so for the Saskatoon Blades!
For the second straight evening, P-A had a large majority of the answers as to what had been working for the Bridge City Bunch in their first 12 games as the Raiders completed a sweep of a weekend home-and-home series with the Blue and Gold with a 5-2 triumph Saturday in front of 4,214 fans at SaskTel Centre. After scoring the final five goals in Friday’s 5-1 victory over the Blades at the Art Hauser Centre, Prince Albert scored the first four goals Saturday, chasing rookie Saskatoon netminder Ethan Chadwick from the net in the process. Sloan Stanick scored his first three goals as a Raider since being acquired from Regina in October. He scored off a 2-on-1 rush to break the ice, tallied on a penalty shot in the second period and connected on a third period power play. Tyson Laventure had the other two goals for 5-7-1 P-A, one of them on the man advantage as the Raiders out-shot the Bridge City Bunch 32-26. Egor Sidorov broke Carter Serhyenko’s shutout bid early in the third period, then helped set up Tristen Robins for the Blue and Gold’s only power play goal in 12 chances over the two games. The 9-4-1 Blades are home to Edmonton Tuesday before being forced to the road for nine straight games by the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Game time Tuesday is 7 o’clock with the broadcast on CJWW beginning at 6:30. Following is Les Lazaruk’s post-game show interview with Saskatoon head coach Brennan Sonne plus the game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
