Today (Mon) is the first day for a vaccine mandate for visitors to all Saskatchewan Health Authority acute care facilities, which includes hospitals and long term care homes.
The SHA says this brings visitors in alignment with the same mandate for workers, which means providing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
Patients won’t have this same requirement to receive care or service. The Ministry of Health will be directing personal care homes to follow the same policy.
When this was announced on October 29th, SHA President and CEO Scott Livingstone said implementing this means adding another layer of safety for staff, for patients and the people who visit them.
Proof of vaccination for SHA workers came into effect on October 1st, but employees and contract workers had until the 15th to provide a declaration of their vaccination status. For those who need a test, asymptomatic testing is no longer being covered the SHA, so you will have to pay.
