Non-essential traffic is once again moving in both directions across the Canada-U-S land border.
Shortly after midnight fully vaccinated vacationers, visitors and day-trippers were able to drive into the United States.
While you need to be vaccinated to get into the States, you need a COVID-19 test to return to Canada and not the kind which were given out for free recently in Saskatchewan. Those were rapid antigen tests.
You need negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours of crossing the border for all travellers who are five years of age or older to get back into Canada. A negative test will not be required to enter the United States.
The U.S. is accepting all vaccines approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and those given Emergency Use Listing by the World Health Organization (WHO).
They will also accept mixed doses of approved vaccines from different manufacturers, as long as they were taken at least 17 days apart.
Children under 18 years old will be exempt from the vaccination requirement provided they are travelling with a fully vaccinated adult. (with files from CKRM)
