The Official Opposition believes that the Sask Party government’s decisions in the fourth wave may mean lifelong effects for some Saskatchewan patients. NDP Leader Ryan Meili was joined by 22 year old Jessica Eide at the Legislature on Wednesday. She has had four surgeries cancelled and says until she gets her surgery she will have issues working, because she can’t stay on her leg for long periods of time, and she can’t even get the urgent testing she needs. She worries there is a possibility of losing her leg.
Meili says patients like Jessica are living with the consequences of the government not following the medical recommendations to reign in the fourth wave, which led to having surgeries and treatments cancelled. He notes cases began rising in late August and early September, but masking wasn’t re-introduced until September 17th, and it was October 1st before proof of vaccination was announced.
