From last Wednesday, November 10th through Tuesday, the Battleford RCMP responded to 460 calls for service, including an incident of suspected child abuse and another dealing with assault and animal cruelty.

Just before 3 in the afternoon on Tuesday, officers responded to a home and found a child with suspicious minor injuries, which investigation showed were the result of an assault. A 26 year old man was later arrested and has been charged with assault.

Last Saturday around noon, RCMP responded to a home in the 1800 block of 3rd Street in North Battleford, where it was reported a man was there but had conditions to remain away from the victim. Police say he damaged property in the home, assaulted the victim and then killed a one month old pet rabbit, by allegedly throwing it against a wall. He was later located and arrested. Thirty year old Byron Wahobin is facing charges that include assault with a weapon, failing to comply with relese order conditions and injuring/endangering the life of an animal.

On November 14th around 8:30 in the evening, Battlefords RCMP found a vehicle on the Highway 16 bypass in North Battleford which as believed to have been involved in a previous complaint involving several traffic infractions. During the investigation, officers report seizing a number of weapons including a baton, handcuffs and a BB gun which had been modified to look like a real gun. A 20 year old woman and 46 year old man were arrested and charged with a number of weapons offences.

The week also included 21 mental health investigations, 19 traffic accidents, 3 impaired driving charges and 88 various traffic charges
