Saskatchewan has surpassed 900 COVID-19-related deaths.
Wednesday’s novel coronavirus dashboard update from the provincial government website showed four new COVID-19-related fatalities, upping the pandemic total to 901.
Otherwise, the latest update had 149 new cases of the virus, along with 177 recoveries, leaving 1,104 active cases.
Among the active cases, there are 168 individuals in hospital, including 42 infections being treated in an I-C-U. Additionally, there are 11 Saskatchewan residents receiving treatment in an Ontario I-C-U.
There were 2,036 COVID-19 tests performed Tuesday along with 2,039 doses of vaccine administered, including 1,441 shots making the recipients full immunized.
Highlights
- As of November 17th, there are 149 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 79,783 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the Far North East (2), North West (12), North Central (10), Saskatoon (39), Central West (2), Central East (19), Regina (17), South West (8), South Central (2) and South East (35) zones and three (3) new cases have pending residence information.
- Five (5) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (from November 15 (3)), North Central (from November 15 (1)), and South East (from November 15 (1)) zones.
- Twenty four (24) SK residents tested out-of-province were added.

- 19,491 cases are from the North area (8,665 North West, 8,016 North Central, 2,810 North East)
- 19,094 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 15,666 cases are from the Regina area
- 9,865 cases are from the South area (2,153 South West, 2,911 South Central, 4,801 South East)
- 9,258 cases are from the Far North area (4,353 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,364 Far North East)
- 5,855 cases are from the Central area (1,418 Central West, 4,437 Central East)
- 554 cases have pending residence information
- 1,104 cases are considered active and 77,778 cases are considered recovered.
- More than one-fourth (29.5%) of new cases are in the age category of 11 or under.
- Almost two-fifths (39.0%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
- As of November 17th, a total of 168 individuals are hospitalized; including 126 inpatient hospitalizations, and 42 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 168 patients, 112 (66.7%) were not fully vaccinated.
- In addition to SK ICUs, there are 11 residents in out-of-province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.
- Four (4) new deaths reported today. 901 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
- 1,256,420 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of November 15, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,059,499 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,251,629 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 114 (9.5 new cases per 100,000).

On October 22nd, we revised the headings on the “COVID-19 new cases and vaccination status” table. The heading for Vaccinated was updated to “First dose >=21.” The data in this table has always been based on this definition.
