The Sask Party government has introduced amendments to the Saskatchewan Employment Act dealing with sexual harassment. Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan explains they would clarify that any unwelcome action of a sexual nature constitutes harassment, and the provisions will now cover independent contractors, students and volunteers.
Another change is removing the requirement to exclude supervisory employees from the same bargaining unit as those they supervise. There is also a provision for public and private sector employers to comply with the COVID-19 vaccination regulations. It gives the employee the choice of showing evidence of being fully vaccinated or evidence of negative COVID test at least every seven days.
