A 35 year old man has been charged with two counts of sexual exploitation in connection to a report made in December of 2019 to the Saskatoon Police Service about allegations of historical sexual assault. The woman who made the report was 16 at the time of the alleged offence. Police say the victim and the accused were known to each other through their affiliation with a Saskatoon faith-based organization.
The Police Service explains that sexual abuse and exploitation occurs when a child has been or is likely to be exposed to harmful interaction for a sexual purpose by a parent, caretaker, or any person in a position of trust or authority over the young person.
If you believe a child may have been sexually abused or exploited, the Police Service reminds the public, we have a legal responsibility to immediately report concerns to the nearest Ministry of Social Services office, First National Child and Family Services Agency, RCMP or the Saskatoon Police.
