Those with Optimist Hill hope to have everything up and running by the start of December. Co-Chair of the Hill, Joe Van’t Hof says the snow over the last week will help speed up the process to open up for the beginning of the month. However, he would like to see cooler temperatures and more snow over the next week or so.
One thing new that people will notice when out on the slopes is that there will be a new food shack at Optimist Hill. Van’t Hof says those out enjoying some snowboarding or tobogganing will be able to enjoy a hot dog or a slice of pizza.
The first phase of the Optimist Hill campaign will be completed once the maintenance garage is fully constructed. It will house a new snowcat that was purchased at the end of last season. The new snowcat will help with improving the grooming and conditions of the hill for users.
Planning will then begin on Phase Two which is expected to consist of a larger chalet or a snow village with multiple buildings. All the latest information and when they’ll be open can be found on the Optimist Hill website.
