The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre has a new theme for their holiday fundraiser this year. The organization has announced the annual holiday campaign will be called “Would You Know If Your Neighbour Was Hungry?”
Executive Director, Laurie O’Connor says the campaign will shine a light on what hunger looks like in our community. O’Connor adds they at the Food Bank believe food security is an issue that affects more folks than people may realize. “We’re really asking folks to sort of reflect and think of they would know if their neighbour was hungry and we’re going to sort be challenging some ideas and perceptions about who uses the food bank so folks can learn more about the work we do.”
The most wanted items are things that are nutritious and can easily be cooked. Those include baby food and formula, canned fruits and vegetables, hearty soups and stews along with whole grain pastas and cereals.
Monetary donations can also be made on the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre’s website. O’Connor says with the pandemic, the food bank didn’t set any goals for the campaign and any donation is greatly appreciated.
