December started just as November ended when it comes to the COVID-19 numbers situation in Saskatchewan.
For a fifth straight day, there were fewer than 100 new cases of the novel coronavirus as the daily dashboard report from the provincial government website showed 81 new cases.
Combined with 61 recoveries and one new COVID-19-related death and Saskatchewan’s active case count is at 735.
From that number, hospitalized cases stayed the same as Tuesday at 133, including 35 infections being treated in an I-C-U.
There remains four provincial residents in Ontario hospital I-C-Us. Wednesday’s dashboard update also showed 2,008 COVID-19 tests performed while there were 5,430 doses of vaccine administered, with 697 of those shots making the recipient fully immunized.

- 735 cases are considered active and 79,412 cases are considered recovered
- More than one-quarter (27.2%) of new cases are in the age category of 5 to 11
- Almost one-third (31.2%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated
- As of December 1st, a total of 133 individuals are hospitalized, including 98 inpatient hospitalizations and 35 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 133 patients, 90 (67.7%) were not fully vaccinated.
- In addition to SK ICU counts, there are four residents receiving out of province care in hospital. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. There has been one repatriation since yesterday’s report.
- One (1) new death reported today. 927 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,279,706 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of November 29, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,081,042 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,276,134 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 72 (6.0 new cases per 100,000)
