The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ have shifted their on-field focus, officially, to Sunday’s West Division final in Winnipeg.
Following the Green and White’s first preparation wotkout on the Mossaic Stadiujm turf, head coach Craig Dickenson had an update on injuries and why some people weren’t present. Canadian defensive back Jacob Dearborn might be done for the year with a shoulder injury. Receiver Duke Williams has a case of turf toe, but will probably play Sunday. Canadian linebacker Micah Teitz is a 50-50 shot to suit up as he is dealing with a sore foot after being stepped on in the West semi-final against Calgary. Defensive lineman Micah Johnson was absent while attending a virtual service for his dad, who passed away recently. Dickenson added that they will be without one of their team members for Sunday, not a player, because of the new vaccine-related travel restrictions.
Elsewhere, kicker Brett Lauther is the Riders nominee for the 2021 Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, which recognizes a Canadian C-F-L player who demonstrates the attributes of Canada’s veterans including strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship and contribution to Canadian communities.
