Saskatoon Police say early Monday morning a Sergeant on East Patrol in the city spotted a group of men approaching an address in the 200 block of Grant Street and thinking it looked suspicious, addressed the men in question, who then retreated with the intention of leaving the area with a woman who was waiting in a vehicle.

A pair of constables had arrived to assist the Sergeant and they found out the vehicle was unregistered. The group was informed the vehicle would be towed because it was unregistered. Police say they cashed in a cab ride, for a trip in a patrol car when officers spotted a firearm through the back windows.

When all was said and done, police seized a loaded sawed-off rifle, an assault-style imitation firearm, multiple bladed and blunt weapons, various ammunition, some methamphetamine, and one unregistered Cadillac. Five people were taken into custody.
