All of the households and businesses on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation can now access fibre-optic broadband service.
Through a collaborative project funded by the federal and provincial governments, the community now has SaskTel infiNET service.
Chief Darcy Bear says, “As we have all learned with the COVID-19 pandemic, access to quality internet services is essential to our families, our schools, our businesses and future opportunities on reserve.”
Under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the federal government contributed just over $1.1-million and the provincial government funded just under $379,000 for this more than $1.5-million project.
