The value of building permits jumped 15 per cent in Saskatchewan in August. Only Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island could better that. The national average was only a rise of six percent. Compared to the same month a year ago, the rise in Saskatchewan was, again, about 15 per cent. Four provinces were higher. The national average was 11 per cent. The total value in Saskatchewan was $141 million. In Saskatoon the value of permits rang in at $73.7 million. That was up 15.5 per cent month-to-month. The national average was a rise of 9.7 per cent. Year-to-year, the rise was 52 per cent in Saskatoon. The national average was an increase of 14.3 per cent.
