U of S forward Jared Dmytriw is the Canada West University men’s hockey conference player-of-the-week.
Going into the Christmas break and end of the first semester, the second-year forward had four points as the Huskies swept a two-game home series with Mount Royal. On Friday, the Craven product opened the scoring, then added two assists as Saskatchewan ended a three-game losing streak with a 7-2 triumph. On Saturday, Dmytriw had on of the five unanswered third period goals as the Dogs rallied for a 7-4 triumph. Following is the news release from the Canada West Conference…..
HKY: Kieser, Dmytriw rack up points
Kieser scores five goals, Dmytriw tallies twice
Kieser vaulted up the conference’s goal scoring leaders list, moving into a tie for third with six goals this season. In Saskatoon, Dmytriw and the Huskies exploded for 14 goals, ending their three-game losing streak.
Kieser opened Alberta’s home-and-home series with the MacEwan Griffins with a hat-trick on Friday night. The first-year forward opened the scoring midway through the second period and found the twine again in the closing minutes of the period to put the Pandas up 2-0 heading to the final 20 minutes. In the third, Kieser would complete the hat-trick, adding an insurance goal in a 4-0 win.
On Saturday, the Sturgeon County, Alta. product put the goal judge to work again with a pair of markers. After MacEwan opened the scoring, Kieser answered less than a minute later with her fifth of the season. Kieser would make it five goals on the weekend with a goal in the in the second period as Alberta cruised to a 6-1 victory.
Alberta (7-4-1) goes into the semester break in fourth-place in the conference standings with 15 points. The Pandas will have an extended break with a bye on the first weekend of competition in 2022, resuming their schedule January 21-22 at home against Saskatchewan (6-4-2).

Jared Dmytriw helped the Huskies end a three-game skid with a four-point weekend in Saskatoon against the Mount Royal Cougars.
The second-year forward got the Huskies off to a hot start in Friday’s 7-2 win, scoring just over a minute into the contest. With the Cougars looking for some momentum late in the third period, Dmytriw set up a pair of Huskie goals to snap Saskatchewan’s losing streak.
In Saturday’s rematch, the Craven, Sask. native got in on the Saskatchewan goal surge scoring one of the Huskies five third period goals as the Huskies erased a 4-1 deficit and earned a 7-4 victory.
The sweep of the Cougars lifted Saskatchewan (9-3-0) back into second-place in the Canada West standings, and moved the Huskies five points clear of Mount Royal.
The Huskies will open the 2022 portion of their schedule with a home-and-home series with the Regina Cougars, beginning on the road in the Queen City, January 14-15.
