The Ministry of Health is reporting that four people from a single household have screened positive for a variant of concern that is believed to be the Omicron variant.
They had a travel history to one of the ten countries of concern identified as positive for the V-O-C.
Tests involving whole genome sequencing are being undertaken to confirm it is the Omicron variant.
The individuals involved as well as their close contacts have been identified and are currently isolating. Contract tracing confirms risk of community transmission is low.
The zone in which the household in question resides is not being disclosed because the Ministry says it would risk identifying those involved.
The government says it expects additional Omicron cases will be detected in the province and all residents should continue best public health practices to prevent all COVID-19 transmission.
