A person between the ages of 40 and 59 and another between the ages of 60 and 79 are the two latest COVID-19-related deaths in Saskatchewan, according to the dashboard on the provincial government website.
That raises Saskatchewan’s pandemic death total from a positive case of the novel coronavirus to 936 people. Otherwise, there were 48 mew cases of COVID-19 in Wednesday’s update, along with 50 recoveries, leaving 609 active cases in the province. From that number, 124 individuals are in hospital, including 31 infections in an I-C-U. Since Tuesday, another Saskatchewan resident has returned to this province from an Ontario hospital I-C-U, leaving one person there. The latest update also included 1,919 COVID-19 tests performed while 2,260 doses of vaccine were administered with 666 shots making the recipient fully immunized.

- 537 cases have pending residence information
- 609 cases are considered active and 79,965 cases are considered recovered
- More than one-third (35.4%) of new cases are in the age category of 40 to 59
- Almost one-half (45.5%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated
- As of December 8th, a total of 124 individuals are hospitalized, including 93 inpatient hospitalizations and 31 ICU hospitalizations. At the time of this report, vaccination status of the 124 hospitalized patients is unknown and awaiting an update from the SHA.
- In addition to SK ICU counts, there is one resident receiving out of province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. One resident has been repatriated since the last report.
- Two (2) new deaths reported today. 936 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,292,026 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 6th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,091,535 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,294,731 tests performed per million.
- As of today, the 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 62 (5.2 new cases per 100,000)
