A 21 year-old woman will serve just under two years in prison in relation to the 2020 death of 36 year-old Richard Netmaker of the Big River First Nation. During the first week of January 2020, Big River RCMP responded to a report of a man who had been abducted from his home and assaulted. A few days later, police found Netmaker’s body in a rural area about eight kilometres north of the First Nation. Karlyne Morin was arrested on July 26th of this year and was originally charged with criminal negligence causing death and two counts of forcible confinement. She recently plead guilty to criminal negligence causing death, assault and threats. Morin was sentenced to 709 days in a Prince Albert court room Friday morning.
